March On PAC: GOP Turns to Courts to Rig Elections They Cannot Win, As Supreme Court Undermines Voting Rights Act

Decision strips protections for Black voters and working communities as Republicans abandon the issues and double down on suppressing the vote

Washington, DC – Today’s Supreme Court decision in Louisiana v. Callais is a deliberate step toward rigging elections in favor of those who cannot win them fairly.

The Voting Rights Act was built through sacrifice, struggle, and the courage of Americans who demanded a real voice in their democracy. Section 2 has long ensured that Black voters, particularly in the South, could elect representatives of their choice. Today’s decision weakens that protection and clears the way for maps designed to dilute that power and silence those voices.

This is not about legal theory. It is about political survival. Republicans have lost the plot on the issues that matter to working people: wages, costs, healthcare, and opportunity. Instead of changing course, they are choosing to change the rules. They are turning to the courts to do what they cannot do at the ballot box.

It is political cowardice. And it is a direct attack on the power of Black voters and working communities across the country.

Andrea Pringle, President of March On PAC, who worked for Reverend Jackson and credits him with shaping her political life, said, “We are witnessing a coordinated effort by MAGA Republicans to dismantle decades of progress because they cannot win on the issues. When they fail to earn the support of voters, they move to silence them. This fight will take everything: legal action, advocacy, organizing, and sustained pressure. But our role is clear. We organize, we mobilize, and we elect leaders who will restore these protections and defend the right to vote.”

The consequences are immediate. This decision will erase representation, weaken communities, and tilt the playing field away from voters and toward politicians who are afraid of them.

March On PAC is focused on electing Democrats who are ready to meet this moment and restore the full strength of the Voting Rights Act, pass the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, and ensure every American has a real voice.
